Transport Policy

\nNow you needn’t make a fuss dear,
\nAs you’re waiting for the bus dear,
\nBut you ought to know you’ve missed a train of six;
\nAnd the final empty five
\nSeemed quite delighted to arrive
\nIn ample time to leave you in a fix.<\/p>\n
When the weather’s warm and sunny
\nAnd you want to walk, it’s funny
\nBut the buses run quite regularly on time.
\nIn the rain they’re only seen
\nHeading back to where you’ve been,
\nWhile a passing lorry splashes you with grime.<\/p>\n
When you’re late the bus was early
\nSo you face the hurly burly
\nOf a walk against the crushing human tide.
\nIf you’re early they’ll be waiting,
\nIt’s as though each bus is stating,
\nThe conditions when he’ll take you for a ride.<\/p>\n
You should not be celebrating
\nIf you find there’s one there waiting
\nIt’s a sign of dreadful traffic up ahead,
\nYou’ll be sitting going nowhere
\nWishing you could change and go where
\nWiser workers thought it best to walk instead.<\/p>\n
Bet you’ve heard those politicians
\nWho cast off all inhibitions
\nWhen they praise our public transport out of reach,
\nBut you know you’ll never meet one,
\nSitting by you on the seat, one
\nDay when they are acting as they preach.<\/p>\n
Still although the bus is awful
\nI’ll reserve a richer jaw full
\nFor their rival people movers, known as trains
\nWho, with no cars to obstruct them
\nNo inspectors to subduct them
\nCan disappear and nobody explains!<\/p>\n
