Bunny’s Big Day

\nThere’s a funny looking bunny
\nTempting parents to spend money
\nOn Easter eggs and other chocolate treats,
\nThough his friend, a toothless fairy,
\nWarns us all we should be wary
\nOf the consequence of eating lots of sweets.<\/p>\n
All the younger kids go crazy,
\nThough the teenagers stay lazy
\nAnd their older siblings hope their lovers send
\nSome delicious little token
\nOf the words so often spoken
\nThat suggest a closer tie than “from a friend”.<\/p>\n
When the children find their treasure
\nThere’ll be whoops and squeals of pleasure,
\nUntil Mums arrive to spoil the guilty feast —
\n“Not till breakfast has been finished
\nAnd your appetite diminished;
\nI want to see it last a week at least.”<\/p>\n
But a chocolate covered terror
\nCannot see the slightest error
\nIn consuming all they have in half and hour,
\nHow can Mothers be so boorish,
\nChocolate eggs are always more-ish,
\nAnd at eight such self restraint’s beyond your power.<\/p>\n
Older siblings make their phone-calls
\nThat will turn to sigh and moan-calls
\nAs they coo their thanks and speak of nothing much
\nDad pretends he’s sleeping through it
\n(If you “sweet him” he will chew it)
\nAnd outside the bunny’s back inside her hutch!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
