The Death of a Friend

\nIt isn’t for the moment that we grieve,
\nSometimes the time has come to close the book;
\nBut there are tears whenever friends must leave,
\nIt’s hard to know you’ve had your final look.<\/p>\n
They won’t be there to hear your latest news —
\nTo look askance when you have gone astray.
\nAlthough you’ve never understood their views,
\nThey showed you how to see another way.<\/p>\n
But people die, not love, that will remain.
\nThe ones you lose are still within your heart
\nAnd though the loss will always bring you pain,
\nNow they’re inside you’ll never be apart.<\/p>\n
So shed your tears, this is the time to cry,
\nBut keep them close, don’t ever say goodbye.<\/p>\n
