The Curse of the Computer!

\nCold-hearted computers can cause you to curse,
\nLike working and Wednesdays they’ll make your life worse,
\nInstead of the boon that they promised to be
\nThey’re grit in the eyes of their minders, like me.<\/p>\n
Configured correctly they claim they’re your friend
\nBut quick as a comet their kindness can end
\nYou’ll alter a setting you didn’t suspect
\nAnd two weeks of work will be rapidly wrecked<\/p>\n
There’s little in life that escapes from the clutch
\nOf CPU cycles and IO and such
\nYour car isn’t yours its the pet of a chip
\nThat retunes your engine while engine revs slip<\/p>\n
Your clothes will be washed by a robotic brain
\nThat scrambles your socks and then bungs up the drain
\nYou toaster is networked the fridge loves the web
\nIt’s flirting on Facebook (a freezer named Jeb)<\/p>\n
On Windows or Linux or Mac OSX
\nWe’re stranded in graphics right up to our necks
\nYou cannot escape it, the net’s everywhere
\nI wouldn’t be shocked breathing digital air<\/p>\n
I’m with them all day and I hate every one
\nThen when I get home I must use them for fun
\nI’d head for a bottle and drink till I’m ill
