\nSummer days are rolling by me,
\nWashed by streams from mountain tarns,
\nFar from all the woes that try me —
\nSilly people spinning yarns.
\nGentle clouds are tossed by breezes,
\nPainting shapes across the sky,
\nA dragonfly that flits and teases
\nElectric blue to catch the eye.<\/p>\n
Kendal Mint Cake if I’m starving,
\nClimbing boots — not on my feet,
\nHidden tracks the years spent carving
\nLed me here away from heat.
\nThrough the dappling, waving willow
\nBuzzards wheel on rising air,
\nRucksack as a makeshift pillow,
\nHalf asleep without a care.<\/p>\n
I can’t hear the sounds of laughter
\nDrifting from the park below,
\nDon’t care where they’re “going after”
\n“Back to town” to “see the show”.
\nSummer days were made for lazing,
\nWalking off to nowhere much,
\nLost where sheep are gently grazing
\nHoping life stays out of touch!<\/p>\n
