\nHer home was near Harrods, its food hall and such,
\nAnd chats with its experts contributed much
\nTo the taste of her cakes and her home’s gracious air,
\nWhile Maxwell, her cat, sat unfussed on his chair.<\/p>\n

\nWas bothered by fizzes and bundles of sparks,
\nA call from her phone to a service she knew
\nSent Billy Fitzpatrick around with his crew.
\nHe chewed on his pencil, he tutted and coughed,
\nFrom attic to kitchen, from bedroom to loft.<\/p>\n
While Millicent Mabelline Middlebrook-Marks,
\nWas patient and pensive through all Billy’s barks,
\nHer wires were “Edwardian” and “well past their prime”,
\nTo leave them in place would be “worse than a crime”.

\nWrote Billy a cheque and set off for the Clarke’s;
\nShe telephoned daily for progress reports,
\nThen played Connie Clarke on her hosts’ tennis courts,
\nThe calls soon got longer, they spoke about food,
\nThe longer the chat, then the better her mood.<\/p>\n
Now Millicent’s back and her home is rewired,
\nQuite free of the fizzes and sparks as desired,
\nAnd Maxwell the cat’s still ensconced on his thrown,
\nThough Millie no longer lives there on her own.
\nHer scones and her cakes still the fount of her fame
