Mind Your Language

\nI like my sonnets written as I chat
\nAnd never mind a little bit of slang,
\nI sometimes drop my consonan’s, like that,
\nAnd let the die-hard archaists go hang.<\/p>\n
To “thee” and “thou” is fine in Yorkshire’s Dales
\nAnd Shakespeare could put stresses on the “-ed”.
\nBut he’d compose a verse for killer whales
\nMore easily than I’d get in his head.<\/p>\n
But write like that and I can’t say I’ll mind
\nI’m not averse to other writers’ ways
\nBut I prefer to leave the past behind
\nAnd write my verse to fit with modern days.<\/p>\n
Those other centuries were not the worst
\nBut I like writing for the twenty-first!<\/p>\n

\nA sonnetteer was advised in a comment to use more Shakespearean language, I
\ncannot agree, some people do that beautifully, but if you wanna write in a
