The Forecast for Today

\nAn anti-cyclone slightly South of Spain,
\nA deep depression in the Iceland Sea,
\nCombine, or so the weathermen explain,
\nTo build the gales that aim their ire at me.
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 Then curtained rain cascading down the street
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 Engulfs me like Niagara in spate
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 With sodden hair and underwater feet
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 I stand to curse the vagaries of fate
\nYou’ll rarely see a wetter suit than mine;
\nI’m dripping like a horror-movie beast.
\nOnce back indoors the sun begins to shine,
\nThe banks of clouds roll blackly to the East.
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 I wish that I had waited half an hour
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And missed the promised “fairly heavy shower”!<\/p>\n
