Olympic Excitement

\nWhile rowers and scullers were picking up speed,
\nThree breakaway cyclists built a big lead,
\nSix archers shot arrows, two divers dove down,
\nThe best in the world went out seeking a crown.<\/p>\n
Do cross country horses like dressage and such?
\nAnd surely those lifters can’t pick up that much!
\nThe hockey sticks rattle, the baskets are balled,
\nWho knows what beach volleyball players are called?<\/p>\n
Two hundred leaf cauldron displaying the flames,
\nThis dirty old city is loving these games!<\/p>\n
It seems that the shooters don’t know how to miss
\nAnd Beth’s twirling Tweedles are gymnastic bliss.
\nThose streaks in the time trials are crazily fast,
\nI blinked for too long to see Wiggo go past!<\/p>\n
While boxers trade punches the judoists throw
\nAnd Tae Kwondo fighters do things I don’t know.
\nPing-pongers turn tables and shuttle cocks fly.
\nThe speed of each service defeating the eye.<\/p>\n
Olympic excitement in jubilee year
\nIt’s only the weather that Britons can’t cheer!<\/p>\n
Next week there’s athletics, will Usain Bolt win?
\nWill discus and hammer get life in a spin?
\nHeptathlon means Jessica, must watch that part
\nHer legs and her smile are a treat for the heart<\/p>\n
They’ll ride round the velodrome, swift as the wind,
\nAnd sail down in Dorset on boards that are finned.
\nThe Chinese, the Russians, The French and the Poles,
\nAmericans, Aussies all reaching their goals,<\/p>\n
All over the world there are sports fans like me
\nWho’ve no time to move ’cause we’re watching TV!<\/p>\n
