In Praise of Toddlers

\nSo many sigh at babies’ tiny toes,
\nAt charming smiles, indicative of wind —
\nSuch foolishness, I’ve had my fill of those,
\nIt’s man’s next stage on which my hopes are pinned.<\/p>\n
The first few steps and incoherent words,
\nThe wonderment at everything they see,
\nAll sporting stars all unaccomplished nerds
\nWere fun to know when they were under three.<\/p>\n
In just two years you see the future formed,
\nThe buds from which the flowers and fruits will grow.
\nThe bleakest times I’ve known were always warmed
\nWhen I saw someone’s toddlers on show.<\/p>\n
The finest jewels with which the Earth’s endowed
