To the Rabble Inside

I used to let imagination wander,
\nWhenever it would go, without a care.
\nBut now I find I’ve little left to squander,
\nAn unfenced mind is tricky to repair.<\/p>\n
The little men inside me used to babble
\nAnd I would listen in on idle thoughts
\nBut now they’re incoherent like the rabble
\nThat chant abusive nonsense at most sports.<\/p>\n
It’s Christmas now, a time for looking forward;
\nI need to set a course, I’m all at sea.
\nDo I raise sail and set my heading shoreward
\nOr let tomorrow drift away from me?<\/p>\n
When New Year comes I hope that I shall find
\nThe strength I need to redirect my mind<\/p>\n
