The Colour You Can’t Find

\nIf you choose to shine a red light on a thing that’s plain and white,
\nThat thing becomes the colour of the lamp that shines so bright.
\nYour torch could be a green one and the thing would then be green
\nBut this does not apply to just one colour often seen.
\nHowever hard you’re searching there’s no brown light to be found
\nWhy can’t we ever make a light the colour of the ground?<\/p>\n
It’s so easy when you’re painting, splash some green into the red
\nAnd a muddy brown impression will be wedged inside your head
\nEvery man and every woman that you’ll ever meet is brown,
\nIt’s the colour of a piece of wood, the mood behind a frown.
\nI understand the spectrum, I remember Roy G Biv,
\nBut Nature loves her secrets, there are gifts she will not give.<\/p>\n
You see more brown things every day than any other hue
\nIt’s the colour things will trend to when they are no longer new
\nBut how can eyes perceive it? They just capture beams of light
\nAnd there are not \u00a0any brown beams, so the image can’t be right.
\nIt’s a puzzle that perplexes as it gives my mind a twist
\nWhy is there so much brown around when brown does not exist!<\/p>\n
