The Route to Riches

\nWe went to church and made a lot of noise,
\nI could have played some games with other boys,
\nBut Mum and Dad said “church for you”
\nAnd I spent Sunday on a pew;
\nSo now you have to give me all your toys.<\/p>\n
The reverend droned on for hours and hours,
\nHe talked of little animals and flowers,
\nBut sermonising’s not for me,
\nI knelt and prayed incessantly,
\nFor god to grant me lots of magic powers.<\/p>\n
The man in front was carrying a gun,
\nAnd god told me that I should have some fun.
\nI took that weapon for my own,
\nOr maybe just on long term loan,
\nNow kneel down and tell me I’m the ONE!<\/p>\n
Religion is the route to better life,
\nTo money, status and a trophy wife.
\nIf you have faith in god above,
\nAnd give your fate a gentle shove,
\nYou too can work around the daily strife!<\/p>\n
