There’s Nowt Wrong With That Cat!

\nI’ll tell you a tale about Merlin the Cat
\nHe’s keen on his dinner and frankly he’s fat
\nHe likes eating dreamies, he loves catching mice
\nYou show him a box he’s inside in a trice
\nHe’s one half a Birman the rest is ragdoll
\nAnd he’s much better looking then some gangster’s moll
\nThe best thing of all about Merlin the cat
\nIs he loves my daughter, and there’s nowt wrong with that!<\/p>\n
When Merlin’s at home it is clear who’s in charge
\nHe’ll stroll round the room and then make himself large
\nPlonked down in the middle where all there will see
\nHe’s making a statement and that’s “This is Me!”
\n“I’m moody, magnificent, proudly myself
\n(But if there are children I’ll hide on a shelf)
\nThis house isn’t much but it’s mine while I’m here
\nNot making a fuss I just want some things clear”
\nBut I’ll forgive Merlin the raccoon-like cat
\n‘Cause he loves my daughter and there’s nowt wrong with that!<\/p>\n
He wonders why she could like chocolate not meat
\nAnd why would she think that a cake is a treat
\nIt’s wasteful, he thinks, to serve fruit with the cream
\nBut if there’s spare chicken he’s living the dream!
\nHe sometimes does tricks if he thinks that they’ll pay
\nAnd sit on your lap, if your lap’s in his way.
\nHe hunts in the gardens he begs for more food
\nHe thinks to ignore him is callous and rude
\nBut Merlin’s a star, a magnificent cat
