{"id":5684,"date":"2023-11-26T20:25:28","date_gmt":"2023-11-26T20:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=5684"},"modified":"2023-11-28T22:50:50","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T22:50:50","slug":"on-the-edge-of-the-irish-sea","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/o-poems\/on-the-edge-of-the-irish-sea\/","title":{"rendered":"On the Edge of The Irish Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> On the Edge of The Irish Sea<br \/>\nby cricketjeff on June 5, 2019.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved<br \/>\nBehind me are the mountains, and the lakes and laughing streams<br \/>\nThe scree slopes and the marshes and the grasslands of my dreams.<br \/>\nThere are tiny hidden valleys, there are falls that have no name<br \/>\nBut the sea that lies before me plays another kind of game.<\/p>\n<p>From the frozen golden sunsets when it&#8217;s still as sheets of ice,<br \/>\nTo the storms that smash the coastline and make pebbles round and nice,<br \/>\nTo the home of seals and dolphins and amazing giant fish,<br \/>\nThe seas that kiss this coastline are the source of every wish.<\/p>\n<p>I have walked this beach in Winter lashed by gales with steel sharp teeth<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;ve lazed here in the Summer, with the warms sands underneath<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve found fossils in the Autumn, eaten ice-creams in the Spring,<br \/>\nMorecambe Bay&#8217;s the home of wonder and the source of everything.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a ferry that will take you to the wonderland of Man<br \/>\nWhere the bikers bring their madness riding faster than they can<br \/>\nWhere the train climbs high on Snaefell and you catch another view<br \/>\nOf the mountains that are Ireland lost in mists and cold, dank dew.<\/p>\n<p>Walk around Whitehaven Harbour, when you&#8217;re back from &#8220;overseas&#8221;<br \/>\nWhere John Paul Jones&#8217;s ship-mates failed to bring us to our knees.<br \/>\nOn the coast by England&#8217;s lakeland there&#8217;d be all that I desire<br \/>\nIf you walked the beach beside me and you set my heart on fire!<\/p>\n<p> Author notes<br \/>\nI confirm that Prism is free to publish this piece if selected.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the Edge of The Irish Sea by cricketjeff on June 5, 2019.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved Behind me are the mountains, and the lakes and laughing streams The scree slopes and the marshes and the grasslands of my dreams.
